Two people: an adult male and adult female, are facing several charges following investigation into a stolen auto and deployment of a spike belt yesterday, August 9th.
These arrests occurred just before 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018, in the area of McAra Street and Arcola Avenue and involved several marked and unmarked police units. The stolen vehicle, a Kia Rio, eventually came to a stop on McAra Street, close to Arcola Avenue. The two occupants of the suspect vehicle fled on foot and were apprehended a short distance away. A police canine unit apprehended the male suspect, who was initially taken to hospital for treatment. Further investigation led to several charges against both individuals.
Twenty-five year-old Nayo Pisim FOX, of Regina, is charged with:
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 (auto), [355(a) CC];
– 2 x Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 (license plate/keys), [355(b) CC];
– Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident, [252(1.1) CC];
– Flight While Being Pursued by a Peace Officer, [249.1(1) CC];
– Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, [249(1)(a) CC]; and
– 2 x Driving While Disqualified, [259(4) CC].
Twenty-two year-old Shianna Spring KAKAKAWAY, of Regina, is charged with:
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 (auto), [355(a) CC];
– 2 x Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 (license plate/keys), [355(b) CC];
– Possession of a Scheduled Substance (cocaine), [4(1) CDSA];
– Possession of a Concealed Weapon (dog spray), [90 CC];
– Possession of a Weapon for the Purpose of Committing an Offence, [88 CC];
– Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, [92(2) CC]; and
– Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device in a Motor Vehicle, [94(1) CC].
Both accused made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018.
