An adult male is in police custody after an incident this afternoon, outside a school in the 600 block of Elphinstone Street.
Police were dispatched to this location at about 3:15 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2018, for a report that a male was causing a disturbance outside the building and saying he had a firearm. Students had already dismissed from school for the day. Due to the threatening nature of the male’s statements, the school staff and administrators enacted their Secure The Building protocol, which means when a potential threat is perceived outside a school, all exterior doors are locked and access to the school is controlled through one entrance. Police attended and found an adult male, matching the description of the suspect, nearby. This person was not armed; he was taken into custody without incident.
This investigation is ongoing with charges pending. Anyone who may information to add to this investigation is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
