On Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at approximately 10:15 a.m. police received report of an injured person at a residence on the 1900 block of Montreal Street.
While en route to the residence, police encountered a 47 year-old male with blood on him in the area of 12th Avenue and Toronto Street, who was detained for investigation.
Police arrived to the residence and found an injured 53 year-old male. EMS attended to the male, who was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious but non-life threatening.
Investigation determined that the victim was in an altercation with the 47 year-old male, who assaulted him with a weapon. It was also learned that the 47 year-old male threatened to kill a 40 year-old male who left the scene. The 47 year-old male was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries, and subsequently arrested and charged.
Forty-seven year-old Ioan Danut POP, of Regina, is charged with:
- Attempt Murder [CC 239];
- 3 X Fail to comply with probation order [733.1(1)]; and
- Uttering threats [CC 264.1(1)(A)].
POP made his first appearance in Provincial Court on these charges today, Thursday December 13, 2018, at 9:30 a.m.
