Holiday season is quickly approaching and it’s that time of year where folks are out shopping and buying gifts for their loved ones. The Regina Police is reminding the public to prevent theft from vehicles by removing all valuables, including gifts and merchandise.
From November 27, 2018 to December 4, 2018, police received 80 reports of theft from vehicles. Items that have been reported stolen are laptops, wallets, gym bags, tools, and anything else of value. Another concerning trend related to theft from vehicles is reports of garage door openers being stolen from vehicles as well. If a thief gains access to a garage from a stolen garage door opener, the situation then becomes a break and enter. From the garage, a thief could potentially gain access to the residence as well.
To help prevent theft from vehicles and avoid becoming a victim of crime, police are encouraging the public to remove all valuable from their vehicles, including garage door openers, and always lock vehicle doors.
