A vehicle left running unattended can be stolen quickly and stolen from anywhere. Think twice before leaving your vehicle running while you run inside your home or do a quick errand.
A brief moment away from your running vehicle turns into an opportunity for a thief. From January 15 – 22, 2019, there were 40 reported stolen vehicles in Regina. Of those 40 vehicles, 50% had keys left in the vehicle or the vehicle was left running while unattended. It only takes seconds for a thief to jump into an unoccupied vehicle and drive away. If you think it can’t happen to you, consider that it happened to half of the victims of auto theft in the past week.
Don’t leave your vehicle unattended with the keys inside or while it is running. Prevent auto theft by locking vehicle doors, removing keys from vehicles, and not leaving vehicles running unattended.
