Another Holiday Season is behind us, but for some, the Giving Season is still going steady. Over the weekend, in Regina, there were 24 reported cases of theft from auto. About half of these cases occurred in locations such as shopping malls or sports venues where an individual’s vehicle may be left unattended for a period of hours and valuables are left in plain sight.
We know that it takes time and effort to remove valuables from plain view inside a vehicle, but those few minutes and that extra effort can prevent loss of property, inconvenience, and damage to vehicles, especially in a “smash and grab” scenario where vehicle windows are broken in order to steal items inside the automobile. Take the time to practice good crime prevention and encourage family members and friends to do the same.
As always, if you see suspicious activity, call police at 306-777-6500. If you see a crime in progress or for emergencies, call 9-1-1. The Regina Police Service thanks the public for their support and co-operation in realizing the vision of “working together to keep Regina safe”.
