Four people: two females and two males are facing drug and weapons charges after a vehicle stop in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 19, 2019. The vehicle came to the attention of patrol officers as it matched the description of a suspicious vehicle call for service on January 17th. It was spotted around 2:45 a.m., northbound on Broad Street near 11th Avenue.
At approximately 2:52 a.m. on January 19, 2019, police conducted a traffic stop on Sherwood Drive at Wascana Drive. While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, police observed a knife in the driver side door panel, a quantity of what appeared to be drugs on the floor and several cell phones in the centre console. A search of the vehicle revealed more apparent drugs and drug paraphernalia as well as folding knives and brass knuckles. The drugs seized include a large quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine, psilocybin and various pills.
Thirty-one year-old Jarod Michael SHAMBEL, of no fixed address, is charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), [5(2) CDSA];
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), [5(2) CDSA];
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (psilocybin), [5(2) CDSA]; and
- Possession of a Weapon (knife) [88 CC].
Thirty-nine year-old Jason Wayne QUEWEZANCE, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), [5(2) CDSA];
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), [5(2) CDSA]; and
- Possession of a Weapon (brass knuckles, knife) [88 CC].
Twenty-five year-old Chantelle Renee FRIDAY, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), [5(2) CDSA];
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), [5(2) CDSA];
- Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]; and
- Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC].
Twenty-four year-old Naomi Elizabeth FRIDAY, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), [5(2) CDSA];
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), [5(2) CDSA];
All four accused persons were released on Officer Undertakings to appear in Provincial Court on February 28, 2019.
