The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners’ Service, has begun a death investigation, which has been confirmed as a homicide investigation. This is the third homicide in the City of Regina in 2019.
This investigation began when police were dispatched to the area of 7th Avenue and Garnet Street in Regina, at approximately 12:04 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Information received in the call indicated a male was lying on the sidewalk. Police officers arrived and started emergency first-aid on the victim until EMS arrived on scene. The male was transported to hospital and was pronounced deceased a short time later. The Coroner was notified and additional resources have been dedicated to this investigation including the Forensic Identification and Major Crimes units. The name of the deceased person will not be released at this time. In addition to the tasks necessary to the criminal investigation, police will confirm the identity of the deceased male and notify his family of his death.
