The Regina Police Service was involved in an investigation of a serious collision between a bicycle and a vehicle earlier this afternoon.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2019, police units were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle collision which occurred in the area of Dewdney Avenue and Park Street. When officers arrived on scene, they found there had been a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist. The male cyclist sustained injuries described as serious, was treated, and then transported to hospital by EMS. Members diverted traffic away from the scene of the collision and remained at the scene for the purposes of the investigation. A collision reconstruction team was requested.
The collision is still under investigation. The Regina Police Service reminds the public that collision investigations are complex and involve a comprehensive process of gathering all available physical evidence and witness statements. This process also gathers and considers a wide variety of other factors and potential contributors including vehicle integrity, time of day, weather, roadway conditions, roadway markings, other vehicles, etc.
