A 20 year-old male, and three male youths are all facing numerous charges of Arson, after investigation into a structure fire and several garbage bin fires between February and June, 2019.
On March 27, 2019 Police and the Regina Firefighters were dispatched to a fire in progress at a vacant house in the 1100 block of Cameron Street. The cause of the fire was determined to be arson and subsequent investigation led to identification of three suspects (one adult and two youths). Investigation indicates suspects broke into the vacant home and set fire to items inside, causing a total loss of the home. Further investigation alleges these same suspects and an additional male youth are responsible for several garbage bin fires in the North Central Community from February 2019 to June 2019.
The investigation by the arson coordinator led to the arrest of 20 year old Devin James MCKAY, of Regina, who is charged with seven counts of Arson [433(1)CC]. MCKAY will appear in Provincial Court on July 11, 2019.
In addition, two 12 year-old male youths, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are charged with nine counts of Arson [433(1)CC]. These youths will appear in Youth Court on July 31, 2019.
Also, a 13 year-old male youth, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with six counts of Arson [433(1)CC]. These youths will appear in Youth Court on August 4, 2019.
