Regina residents, get ready to cheer on not one, but two sporting events tonight. On the MaxTron screen at Mosaic Stadium, the Saskatchewan Roughrider game will be shown starting at 5:00 p.m., and the Toronto Raptor game will be shown starting at 7:00 p.m. In anticipation of the large crowd that will gather at the stadium, the Regina Police Service is advising the public to be aware of limited parking, increased traffic, and road closures.
Beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, there will be no vehicle traffic allowed on the 1500, 1600, and 1700 blocks of Elphinstone Street. Access will be limited to Regina Transit buses and local residents only (you may be asked to show that you are a local resident, e.g. home address on identification or correspondence). Attendees and motorists will find road closures on:
- 1500 block of Elphinstone Street at Dewdney Avenue;
- Princess Street and 9th Avenue
- Argyle Street and 9th Avenue;
- McTavish Street and 9th Avenue;
- Elphinstone Street and 9th Avenue;
- Montague Street and 10th Avenue;
- Elphinstone Street and North Railway Street;
- Saskatchewan Drive and Elphinstone Street.
Police are asking motorists and pedestrians to follow directions, have patience and be courteous to other users of the road.
To help residents get to the game on Thursday, the City is offering FREE transit shuttle service to Jurassic Park Regina.
Between 5:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., residents can take a transit shuttle to Mosaic Stadium from the following pickup locations:
- Downtown
- Southland Mall
- Warehouse
- University of Regina
