The Regina Police Service has concluded its investigation into an alleged abduction that was the subject of a news release issued on June 7, 2019. At that time, it was reported to police that a 17 year-old male alleged he’d been kidnapped at gunpoint by an unknown adult male and adult female. Now, as the result of extensive investigation, police can confirm this incident never happened.
In the original statements given to police, the 17 year-old alleged victim also reported the alleged abduction of a second, unidentified teenage male. The early steps in the investigation indicated there was no second victim. Police released these interim findings on June 13th. Continued investigation into this case led investigators to evidence that contradicted, and eventually dispelled, the claims made in the initial report. Investigators did not find evidence to suggest the original report was made out of any criminal intention, therefore the matter has been concluded.
The Regina Police Service thanks the public and the media for their cooperation and patience in this matter.
