On Monday July 1, 2019 at 2:51 p.m., police were dispatched to the intersection of Avonhurst Drive and Elphinstone Street, where a vehicle was hung up on a large sink-hole. Police secured the scene and redirected traffic away from the intersection. The vehicle which was partially hung up on the sink-hole was towed to safety without any injury to the driver or members of the public.
Police are notifying the public to avoid the following intersections as they will be closed or restricted until the hazard of the sink-hole is repaired:
- Sherwood Drive and Argyle Street/Avonhurst Drive south bound,
- Elphinstone Street and Patricia Ave, and
- Avonhurst Drive and Garnet Street.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to choose another route until such time the roadway at Avonhurst Drive and Elphinstone Street is made safe. To avoid injury and for safety concerns, police are advising the public to not attempt to get close to the hole or to climb into it as the ground around may be unstable. The Regina Police Service thanks the public for their cooperation.
