A 19 year-old male has been arrested on several warrants and is also facing new charges as the result of police investigation into several recent incidents of auto theft in the city of Regina.
On August 15, 2019, at about 8:40 a.m., police spotted a vehicle believed to be a stolen auto in the area of College Avenue and Halifax Street. The vehicle was followed to the 2000 block of Wallace Street. Plainclothes officers were able to stop the vehicle and took the driver into custody. This suspect was identified as a male wanted on several outstanding warrants for vehicle theft and other matters. The suspect was safely taken into custody, but the arrest did cause some disruption to the neighborhood and property damage to vehicles. Before the arrest, it’s alleged the suspect pulled a modified, loaded firearm and attempted to hide it. Police recovered a .22-calibre rifle. This arrest led to police obtaining a search warrant for an address in the 800 block of Victoria Avenue. The search led to recovery of a stolen vehicle and numerous items of stolen property from a previous incident. Further investigation led to several charges, in addition to the outstanding warrants.
The outstanding warrants for this individual involved the following offences and 15 charges between May 2nd and August 6th, 2019.
