The Regina Police Service, working in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service, can now confirm that the deceased person located northeast of Regina on October 26, 2019, is 22 year-old Jenaya Mary WAPEMOOSE. Confirmation of identity was completed this week with the help of the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service. The family of Jenaya WAPEMOOSE has been advised and the investigators, along with RPS Victim Services, continue to offer support and referrals to resources.
Two persons are facing charges in connection with this homicide.
- Twenty-three year-old Eric Lee Alvin KAKAKAWAY, of Regina, who is charged with Second Degree Murder [235(1) CC] and Offering an Indignity to a Human Body [182(b) CC].
- Thirty year-old Jeannette Mavis KAKAKAWAY, of Regina, who is charged with Accessory after the Fact to Murder [240 CC]. Jeannette Mavis KAKAKAWAY was arrested on outstanding, unrelated warrants for Breach of Probation.
Both accused persons made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court on Monday, October 28, 2019.
