Regina Police Service Stolen Auto investigators have concluded a number of related investigations, extending from September 16th to early December, in which four adults are alleged to have been involved in committing frauds, falsifying identity documents, tampering with vehicle identification numbers (VINs), and trafficking stolen property. The accused are two males, ages 34 and 48; and two females, ages 39 and 42, all of Regina.
The initial investigation by the RPS Stolen Auto Unit began with a vehicle, fraudulently purchased from a dealer in Saskatoon and brought to Regina. This investigation resulted in the arrests of a 34 year-old male and a 39 year-old female, on October 23, 2019. Continued investigation, including multiple search warrants, led to police discovering evidence of tampering with vehicle identification numbers (VIN). As the investigation progressed, police uncovered numerous documents which contained evidence of: additional fraudulent transactions involving other vehicles, identity theft and identity fraud. There were also two other suspects identified, who were taken into custody on November 28th and December 7th. The 34 year-old male charged on October 23, 2019, was re-arrested on new charges on December 9th. One of the vehicles recovered was found in Montana.
