An 18 year-old male and a 15 year-old male youth are facing weapon charges after an incident early Friday evening.
On Friday December 20, 2019, at approximately 8:10 p.m., police were dispatched to the 2100 block 11th Avenue for a report of a weapon offence. Initial reports indicated that a fight had taken place inside a business resulting in two male suspects deploying what is commonly known as bear spray. The two suspects departed the business and fled on foot. Police apprehended both suspects a short time later nearby and recovered the weapons used in the commission of the offence.
No one suffered any physical injury from this incident.
The 15 year-old male youth of Regina, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon [Sec 90CC] in relation to this incident.
The youth will appear in Youth Provincial Court on January 30, 2020.
18 year-old Avison MCKAY of Regina is charged with
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(a)];
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88];
- Disguise with Intent [CC351(2)];
- Fail to Comply with Condition of a Release Order [CC 145(5)(a)]
MCKAY makes his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Monday, December 23, 2019.
