On December 19, 2019, at approximately 4:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a shopping centre on the 2100 block of 11th Avenue for the report of a fire. Information received was that a male had been seen starting a fire in a bathroom, and leaving. Police arrived on scene and located the suspect, a 14 year-old male, on 11th Avenue, where he was arrested for the arson. Further investigation led to charges for five previous arson incidents, occurring between the 10th and 16th of December, in the same location.
A fourteen year-old, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- 6 X Arson [CC 433].
The youth makes his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court, today, December 20, 2019, at 2:00 p.m.
