The Regina Police Service is now making public the name of the victim in Regina’s second homicide of 2020. In addition, a young person has been charged in connection with this case.
The death investigation which began Friday January 24, 2020, by the Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, is now continuing as a homicide investigation: the second homicide in Regina in 2020. The victim is an adult male who was found critically injured in the 500 block of Wascana Street. He was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.
Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Wascana Street at approximately 1:29 a.m., on Friday, January 24, 2020. Initial information received was that an injured male was inside a residence in this area. Police arrived and immediately requested EMS for a male who appeared to be critically injured. Police attempted emergency first aid until EMS arrived. EMS attended and at approximately 1:41 a.m., the male was pronounced deceased. Officers secured the scene and requested the Coroner, as well as the Major Crimes and Forensic Identification Units.
The deceased person has been identified and his next-of-kin have been notified. The victim is 23 year-old Majok Agwait MAJOK, of Regina.
A 17 year-old male has been charged in relation to the homicide. The 17 year-old accused male cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He is facing a charge of Second Degree Murder [235(1) CC. The youth will make his first court appearance on this charge in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. Monday January 27, 2020.
