On Saturday, March 21, 2020, at approximately 4:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of Wallace Street and Victoria Avenue for the report of a weapons offence.
Information received was that a lone male was approached by a female and two males. One of the two males pulled out a bladed weapon and gestured it toward the victim. The lone male ran away, and fell, dropping belongings in the fall which were picked up by the three suspects. The victim got away from the suspects. He was later treated by EMS and transported to hospital for his injuries sustained in the fall.
Police in the area observed a group of three suspects matching the description. As police approached, the three fled. One of the suspects, a 15 year-old male, was apprehended.
A 15 year-old youth, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Robbery [CC 344(1)(B)];
- Obstruct peace officer [CC 129(A)]; and
- Failure to comply with probation order [CC 733.1(1)].
The youth makes his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court today, March 23, 2020, at 9:30 a.m.
