On Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at approximately 10:25 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of 1700 block of St. John Street for a report of a weapons offence.
Information received was that an argument started in a residence in the area of the 1700 block of St. John Street. It was reported that a female involved in the argument had a taser (Conducted Electrical Weapon). The suspect female assaulted two people, smashed a window and then left.
A short time later, police were dispatched for a report of another weapons offence. It was reported that a female had used a taser on an employee of a business on the 1700 block of Dewdney Avenue East. With the assistance of canine, police located the female in a residence on the 100 block of Fischer St. The female was arrested and the Conducted Electrical Weapon was seized. The arrested female was involved in both incidents. No one involved in these incidents required medical attention.
A 17 year-old female youth, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Assault with a weapon [CC 267(A)] x 3;
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon [CC 91(2)] x 2;
- Assault [CC 266] x 2 and
- Mischief Under $5000 [CC430 (4)].
The first appearance on these charges is in Provincial Youth Court, April 15, 2020, at 9:30 a.m.
