An adult female has been charged as the result of investigation into a suspicious vehicle, which led to discovery of drugs and items associated to drug trafficking.
On Monday, May 11, 2020 at about 3:08 a.m., police officers on patrol saw a white GMC truck, with three occupants, which was heading northbound on Broad Street at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was later observed in the area of Litzenberger Crescent. Officers set up a perimeter and found the truck, abandoned, in an alley on Litzenberger Crescent. One officer found two adult females walking in the area and detained them as part of the investigation. At the same time, canine officers tracked from the vehicle to an alley on Kennedy Crescent and located a third adult female. She was detained for dangerous operation of the vehicle and searched for weapons. In the search, police found baggies containing a substance believed to be illegal drugs. A search of the abandoned truck found cash and other items associated with drug trafficking. The three female suspects were interviewed; one was subsequently charged.
Eighteen year-old Taryn Mackenzie GEORGE, of Grenfell, is charged with:
– Possession of a Scheduled Substance (methamphetamine) for the Purpose of Trafficking, section 5(2) CDSA;
– Possession of a Scheduled Substance (cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking, section 5(2) CDSA;
– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, section 355(a) CC.
GEORGE was released with a court date of July 14, 2020, in Provincial Court.
