The Regina Police Service Drug Unit (RDU) in conjunction with the Saskatoon Integrated Intelligence Unit, the Saskatoon RCMP Federal Serious Organized Crime Unit and the Regina Integrated Crime Reduction Team (ICRT) completed an investigation into drug trafficking within the city of Regina and the Saskatoon area. The Regina Drug Unit completed enforcement in relation to the investigation in Regina on May 14, 2020. Illegal drugs, cash, and items commonly associated to drug trafficking were seized in the enforcement.
As a result of the investigation, 39 year-old Kurt Elliot MILLER of Biggar, SK, 41 year-old Michael Corrie BAUN of Regina, SK, 27 year-old Coleton Roald THOMPSON of Regina, SK, and 37 year-old Krista Lee BARTLETT of Regina, SK, were all charged in relation to the drug trafficking investigation.
The charges for each individual are as follows:
Kurt Elliot MILLER:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) [5(2)CDSA];
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine) [5(2)CDSA];
- Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000 [355(B)CC];
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public [88CC]; and
- Breach of probation [733.1(1)CC].
Michael Corrie BAUN:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl) [5(2)CDSA];
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) [5(2)CDSA];
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine) [5(2)CDSA];
- Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000 [355(B)CC]; and
- Possession of weapons dangerous to the public [88CC].
Krista Lee BARTLETT:
- Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) [4(1)CDSA]; and
- Possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) [4(1)CDSA].
Coleton Roald THOMPSON:
- Possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) [4(1)CDSA].
THOMPSON was a sentenced prisoner who was released in the community on a temporary release at the time of the offence. BAUN and BARTLETT were both released with a future court date while MILLER was remanded into custody facing additional charges in relation to offences in the Saskatoon/ Biggar area.
