A 76 year-old male is facing impaired driving charges after a collision on Saturday.
On Saturday, May 2, 2020 at approximately 9:20 p.m., members of the Regina Police Service were dispatched to the 4100 block of Preston Crescent for a report of a motor vehicle collision with injuries. Early information provided to police suggested a vehicle struck a pedestrian and the driver then proceeded to drive into the closed garage door at the front of a residence.
When police arrived, officers located an injured female on the road. She was transported to hospital by EMS with what were described to be serious but not-life-threatening injuries.
A male driver was located inside the suspect vehicle, which had collided with the garage door of a residence and the vehicles parked inside the garage. Based on evidence gathered by the officers on scene, the male was arrested and charged.
Seventy-six year-old Shangara Singh GILL, of Regina, has been charged with:
- Impaired Operation of A Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm [CC 320.14 (2)];
- Failure/Refusal To Comply With Demand When Involved In An Accident Causing Bodily Harm [CC 320.15 (2)].
GILL will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on July 8, 2020 at 9:30 a.m.
