On May 2, 2020 at approximately 8:37am, police were dispatched to the 3500 block of 5th Avenue in regards to a weapons offence involving a firearm. Several residents in the area called police after hearing what they believed to be multiple gunshots.
Police attended and located evidence that a firearm was discharged. On further investigation, it was determined that a silver SUV was parked in the parking lot of a business when a male suspect approached the vehicle on foot and pointed a firearm at the SUV. The suspect driver of the SUV then exited the vehicle and pointed a firearm back at suspect #1. It’s believed one of the suspects fired several rounds.
Suspect #1 is described as a male Aboriginal, approximately 20 years old with short hair wearing a black T-shirt with a slim build.
Suspect #2 is described as a male in his 30’s wearing a black T-shirt, heavy build with short hair.
Police have no information suggesting anyone was injured during the incident. This doesn’t appear to be a random act however; the incident itself posed a significant risk to the public. The investigation is ongoing therefore more information may be released at a later date.
