Two adults: a male and a female, are facing various charges in connection with a robbery and aggravated assault on a 76 year-old woman in February, 2020.
On February 4, 2020, at approximately 4:17 p.m., several officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Hamilton Street for a report of a robbery in progress. At the scene police located the victim, a 76 year-old female, as well as individuals who had witnessed some of the event and had come to the victim’s aid. The preliminary investigation into this incident indicated the victim was walking southbound in the 1800 block of Hamilton when she was assaulted by an unknown male and robbed of her shoulder bag, which contained her wallet and other personal items. While an officer remained with the victim and witnesses, other officers did a search of the area but did not locate the suspect. Further attempts included circulating the description of the suspect to other businesses in the area but this, too, was unsuccessful. The victim was taken by EMS to hospital with injuries requiring treatment. Continued investigation into this robbery led to the discovery that credit cards belonging to the victim had been used at two local businesses. These fraudulent uses of the stolen credit cards became part of the larger robbery investigation, which eventually led to the identification of two potential suspects. On March 27, 2020, with the help of the Moose Jaw Police Service, an adult male was arrested and transferred to the custody of RPS members. Continued efforts to locate the second suspect were, at first, unsuccessful but on May 20, 2020, again with the help of the Moose Jaw Police Service, an adult female was arrested and transferred to RPS custody. Both individuals have been charged in connection with the robbery, aggravated assault and use of the credit cards, knowing they were obtained by crime.
