On Saturday, June 6, 2020, at approximately 5:50 p.m., a male was observed carrying a firearm on 1st Avenue at Cameron Street in Regina. Police attended and located a male carrying a firearm on the 700 block of Robinson Street. The male appeared agitated and was shouting and waving the firearm around. Multiple orders were given by police to the male to drop the firearm and lay on the ground, and the male refused. The male then dropped the gun and entered a house on the 700 block of Robinson Street. Police gained entry to the house and a struggle ensued. At approximately 6:00 p.m., the male was arrested by police, and charged. The firearm was recovered and identified as an airsoft gun.
Thirty-five year-old Vincent Lennon GEORGE, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of a weapon [CC 88]; and
- Resist arrest [CC 129(A)].
GEORGE made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, Monday, June 8, 2020.
Please remember that displaying any type of imitation firearm in public will prompt an immediate response from police. Until police know what the weapon is, it will be treated as if it’s a real firearm. And even if the “gun” turns out to be an imitation, serious criminal charges may result.
