On Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at approximately 12:45 p.m., police were dispatched to a weapons offence on the 1200 block of Retallack Street. A male was witnessed running down the street yelling that he was bear maced.
Police arrived and learned that the male was robbed at gunpoint in a residence on the 1200 block of Retallack Street, where two other males and two females were present. The victim had agreed to meet at the target address to buy an item on a social media marketplace. A physical struggle ensued between the male victim and the suspect male, which involved a firearm. As the victim tried to get away, a female sprayed the victim with bear mace. The victim was able to get away, but had his belongings stolen.
Police attended and searched the residence, and recovered a firearm. Two females were located inside, and it was determined that one of the females was responsible for the bear mace spraying, and she was subsequently arrested and charged by police. The male alleged to have committed the robbery with the firearm has not yet been located.
Eighteen year-old Andrea GALBRAITH is charged with assault with a weapon [CC 267(A)].
GALBRAITH is scheduled to make her first appearance on this charge in Provincial Court on August 10, 2020.
