On Monday July 20th, 2020 the Regina Police Service members discharged a CEW, commonly known as a Taser, during an arrest of an adult male. This advisory is in keeping with the Regina Police Service’s
commitment to notify the public each time a CEW is discharged against a person.
On Monday July 20th, 2020 at approximately 12:08 hours a male broke into a business on the 900 Block of Victoria Ave, caused extensive damage to the building, and stole some money and other merchandise. Staff had to flee the building as the male was being violent and appeared to be under the influence of either drugs or alcohol. Police arrived and the male fled from the business but was verbally challenged a short distance away.
The male was violent with police and ignored commands to comply. Police deployed a CEW on the male who was then safely taken into custody. There were no injuries but because of his agitated and violent state. the male was sedated by EMS and then transported to hospital for observation.
