The Regina Police Service, working in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, confirms that a death investigation, begun in the 1200 block of Cameron Street on August 24th, is now a homicide investigation. This is the tenth homicide in Regina in 2020.
This investigation began on Monday, August 24, 2020, when police were dispatched at approximately 7:06 p.m. to the 1200 block of Cameron Street for a report of a weapons offence and an injured person at the scene. Police and EMS went to the scene and found an adult male, who was pronounced deceased by EMS at the scene. Patrol members secured the scene and requested the additional resources of the Major Crimes and Forensic Identification units as well as the Coroner.
The deceased male has been identified and his next-of-kin have been notified of his death. He is 32 year-old Mathew Joseph BOSSENBERRY, of Regina.
Police investigation led to the arrest, on August 25, 2020, of a 39 year-old male. Ryan George CHEVRIER, of Regina is charged with Second Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. CHEVRIER will make his first court appearance in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
