The victim of an Attempted Murder on August 1st has died. The victim, a 30 year-old male has become the ninth victim of homicide in Regina in 2020.
This investigation began on Saturday, August 1, 2020, when police were dispatched to Krauss Street, in the City’s Mount Royal neighbourhood, for a firearms offence. Early information indicated a male in that location had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. Police and EMS responded to the scene and found a 30 year-old male, who was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious. Continued investigation into this incident led to recovery of a vehicle believed to have been involved and identification of viable suspects. On August 2nd, police carried out an emergency services operation, involving SWAT and K9, at a residence on Wolfe Place, which led to the arrest of an adult male and an adult female. Both were charged with Attempted Murder Using a Firearm. Both accused made their first court appearance on these charges on August 4th.
Police continued their investigation, which included monitoring the victim’s condition in hospital. On Saturday, August 15th, investigators were advised that the victim had passed away. The investigation is now a homicide investigation; changes will be made to the criminal charges faced by the co-accused. The victim is 30 year-old Earl Francis DUFOUR, of Lebret Saskatchewan.
Twenty-two year-old Dominick Mark COCHRANE and 23 year-old Angelica Violet TAYPOTAT, both of Regina, are now facing a charge of First Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. Both accused will make their first court appearance on the new charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2020.
