A person has been charged in connection with Regina’s eighth homicide of 2020. A 24 year-old female has been charged with Manslaughter, as the result of continued investigation into the June 10, 2020, death of an eighteen-month male child.
This investigation began on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at about 10:15 a.m., when police and other emergency responders were dispatched to a residence in the 3200 block of Arens Road. Police at the scene assisted EMS with an injured child, who was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service and police investigators launched a death investigation which was categorized as a homicide investigation a little more than a month later, on July 15th. As the result of the criminal investigation that followed, Major Crimes investigators arrested a 24 year-old female on August 4, 2020, about 50 km. south/southeast of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Twenty-four year-old Chelsea Rae WHITBY, of Regina, is charged with Manslaughter, contrary to section 236(b) of the Criminal Code. WHITBY will make her first court appearance on this charge before Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2020.
