An Edmonton male is facing charges in connection with a stolen vehicle after an investigation last night by Regina Police Service patrol and canine members.
At about 9:55 p.m., on October 26, 2020, officers on patrol noted a suspicious vehicle in the area of 3rd Avenue North and Albert Street. A query of the plate showed the vehicle had been stolen from Sylvan Lake, Alberta. When the suspect truck came to a stop at a service station near 9th Avenue North and Albert Street, officers activated their emergency equipment, but the truck accelerated out of sight. Over the next minutes, the truck was spotted by other patrol members, including a canine officer in an unmarked vehicle. The canine officer kept the truck in sight until it was abandoned in a field. Another patrol unit arrested the male, fleeing from the truck. Further investigation led to charges against the 24 year-old male in custody.
Twenty-four year-old Jordan James DEMPSTER, of Edmonton Alberta, is charged with:
– Operate Conveyance Dangerous to Public [320.13(1) CC];
– Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000 [355(a) CC];
– Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000 [355(b) CC];
– Breach of Release Order [145(5)(a) CC]; and
– Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC].
DEMPSTER made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. (today), Tuesday, October 27, 2020.
