Investigation into an October 21st robbery, as well as an assault on October 25th has led to numerous charges against a 27 year-old Regina male.
On Sunday, October 25, 2020, at about 1:16 a.m., police were dispatched to a downtown hotel parkade for a report of an assault by an unknown male on a security commissionaire. When police arrived, the suspect had fled on foot, but an area check found a male who matched the suspect description. He was arrested without incident. It is alleged that, while being searched incident to his arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of a substance later confirmed to be cocaine. He was also alleged to be in possession of ammunition, in breach of a firearms/ammunition prohibition order. While being interviewed at Regina Police Service, it’s alleged the suspect assaulted a police officer. Further investigation also connected the same individual as a suspect in a robbery on October 21st.
On Wednesday, October 21, 2020, a 19 year-old male contacted police to report that he’d been robbed by an unknown male who approached the victim as he was making his way home from work. Preliminary investigation indicated the suspect walked with the victim for some distance and then displayed a knife and took the victim’s backpack and phone. The backpack contained the victim’s wallet and other personal belongings. Police were able to obtain surveillance video showing the two males. That led to confirmation of the identity of the suspect.
Twenty-seven year-old Nathaniel Vincent RUNNS, of Regina is charged with:
- Assault [266 CC];
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to order [117.01(1) CC];
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance (cocaine) [4(1) CDSA];
- Assault a Peace Officer [270(1)(a) CC];
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release Order [145(5)(a) CC];
- Robbery [344.(1)(b) CC]; and
- 3 X Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC].
RUNNS made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2020.
