The Regina Police Service Drug Unit (RDU) completed an investigation into drug trafficking within the City of Regina. As a result of the investigation, CDSA search warrants were executed on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, in the 700 block of Retallack Street and the 1400 block of Elphinstone Street.
During the searches, approximately 500 grams of cocaine, approximately $25,000.00 in currency, and bear spray were located along with other items to support drug trafficking.
As a result of the enforcement action, 35 year-old Brett Eric ROY of Regina, SK, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) [5(2) CDSA];
- Possession of proceeds of crime over $5000 [355(a) CC]; and
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace (bear spray) [88 CC].
ROY made his first court appearance on November 5, 2020.
As a result of enforcement on November 4th, the Regina Drug Unit completed further enforcement action on November 5, 2020, in the 5300 block of 4th Avenue. During the search additional cocaine, fentanyl, currency, a loaded .22 semi-automatic rifle, and additional items used to traffic controlled substances were seized.
As a result of the search on November 5th, 31 year-old Milan Garth WIGHT of Regina, SK, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) [5(2)CDSA];
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl) [5(2)CDSA];
- Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000 [355(b)CCC];
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace (rifle) [88CC];
- Unsafe storage of a firearm [86(1)CCC]; and
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm [91(1)CCC and 92(1)].
WIGHT was released with a future court date.
