An 18 year-old Regina male is facing numerous charges after his arrest in a stolen vehicle on Thursday, December 10, 2020 and related investigations going back to late October.
On October 18, 2020 a Mazda CX5 was stolen from the 3100 block of Winchester Road. The vehicle was recovered on October 23rd and evidence gathered by police led to the identification of a suspect.
On November 29, 2020, a Mazda 3 was stolen from the 2600 block of Dorsey Place. The owner also reported the loss of a credit card, which was in the vehicle. That card was fraudulently used (TAP function) the same day in a store. Video evidence and further investigation led to identification of the suspect.
On December 10, 2020, police received a report of a stolen Hyundai Sonata, believed to have been stolen from the 1500 block Wascana Highlands Drive sometime the night before. Later that day, around 5:30 p.m. police spotted the stolen Sonata and observed a male and a female parking the vehicle in the 2300 block of McKay Street and walking away. The pair fled on foot when approached by police; the male suspect was apprehended without incident. The suspect was the same suspect male in the October 18th and November 29th vehicle thefts. Further investigation led to a total of 13 charges.
Eighteen year-old Kanaan LAMBERT, of Regina, is charged with:
- 3 X Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 [355(a) CC];
- 3 X Breach of Undertaking [145(5)(a) CC];
- 2 X Theft of Motor Vehicle, Section 333.1(1) CC.
- 2 X Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 [355(b) CC];
- Theft under $5,000 [334(b) CC];
- Obstruct Peace Officer [129(a) CC];
- Possession of Break-in Instruments [351(1) CC];
LAMBERT made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2020.
