A 35 year-old Regina male is facing weapons charges as well as an aggravated assault charge in connection with a home invasion on Sunday evening.
On Sunday, January 17, 2021, at about 8:41 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Wascana Street for a weapons offence in progress. Police learned that the caller, a 61 year-old male, reported that an unknown male entered his residence, saying he was being chased by someone. As the resident was on the phone contacting police, he was allegedly stabbed twice by the unknown male. When police arrived, the suspect male was just outside the residence. Police located a knife as well as a sawed-off .22 calibre firearm. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. In addition to the charges arising from this incident, police learned the 35 year-old male was also the subject of a warrant. The victim was taken to hospital by EMS for wounds to his limbs, which were described as not life-threatening.
Thirty-five year-old Aaron Preston BITTERNOSE, of Regina, is charged with:
- Break & Enter and Commit Aggravated Assault [348(1)(b) CC];
- Careless Use of a Firearm [86(1) CC];
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose [88 CC]; and
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon [91(2) CC].
BITTERNOSE made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. (today), Monday, January 18, 2021.
