An 18 year-old male made his first court appearance today (Monday) in connection with a weapons offence, which started out as an apparent incident of mischief.
On Sunday, January 3, 2021, at approximately 9:49 a.m., police were dispatched to downtown Regina, along 11th Avenue, where it was reported someone was smashing Christmas ornaments. Police located and detained two males. One of the males had warrants out of Saskatoon; he was taken into custody and later released with a future court date in Saskatoon. The second male had a can of what appeared to be bear mace in his pocket. A further search of the person and his backpack yielded knives and an improvised (home-made) firearm, which was loaded. After further investigation, this individual was charged.
