On Friday, June 25, 2021, just before midnight, police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Robinson Street for a report of a weapons offence. Early information suggested a male had been assaulted at the location and a bladed weapon was involved. At the time of the call, the victim was said to be at a location in the 3500 block of 5th Avenue. When police arrived to that location, they located the male victim, who had minor injuries, and he was treated by EMS at the scene.
Meanwhile, other Patrol members and the Canine Unit went to the location of the alleged assault in the 1000 block of Robinson Street. Police saw a male fleeing the residence on foot. A perimeter was set up and a Canine track was established. The Canine team located the suspect in a nearby yard and the male suspect was bitten by the dog in the process of his detention and arrest. The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment and was charged in connection with the assault. As a result:
Thirty-four year-old Joshua Chad NAHNEPOWISK, of the Regina district, has been charged with:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm [CC 267 (B)];
- Fail To Comply With Condition of a Release Order [CC 145 (5)(A)].
NAHNEPOWISK made his first court appearance in Provincial Court this morning (June 28, 2021) at 9:30 a.m.
