On Friday, July 9th, 2021 at 10:50 am the Regina Police Service received call from a business in the 2000 block of Prince of Wales reporting a possible explosive device. Patrol members arrived at the scene and through investigation located and arrested a subject, and secured a location inside the business as well as a vehicle in the parking-lot.
The Regina Police Service and RCMP Explosives Disposal Units (EDU) attended and confirmed both the vehicle and business contained items dangerous to the public. Due to public safety concerns a portion of Victoria Avenue East was shut down while a team of EDU members worked to make the vehicle safe. A second EDU team entered the business and safely removed an item and then transported it to a secure location for examination and destruction. The subject arrested at the scene was 23 year-old Kyle POAG, who has been charged with:
• DID DELIVER OR PLACE AN EXPLOSIVE CONTRARY TO SECTION 431.2(2) OF THE CRIMINAL CODE
• WITHOUT LAWFUL EXCUSE DID MAKE AN EXPLOSIVE SUBSTANCE, CONTRARY TO SECTION 82(1) OF THE CRIMINAL CODE.
• DID MAKE AN EXPLOSIVE SUBSTANCE WITH INTENT THEREBY TO ENDANGER LIFE, CONTRARY TO SECTION 81(1)(d)(i) OF THE CRIMINAL CODE
• DID DELIVER OR PLACE AN EXPLOSIVE OR OTHER LETHAL DEVICE TO WITH INTENT TO CAUSE DEATH OR BODILY INJURY CONTRARY TO SECTION 431.2(2) OF THE CRIMINAL CODE
• WITHOUT LAWFUL EXCUSE DID HAVE IN HIS POSSESSION AN EXPLOSIVE SUBSTANCE CONTRARY TO SECTION 82(1) OF THE CRIMINAL CODE.
• DID MAKE AN EXPLOSIVE SUBSTANCE WITH INTENT THEREBY TO ENDANGER LIFE, CONTRARY TO SECTION 81(1)(d)(i) OF THE CRIMINAL CODE
• KNOWINGLY UTTER A THREAT TO THE PUBLIC TO CAUSE DEATH TO THE PUBLIC, CONTRARY TO SECTION 264.1(1)(a) OF THE CRIMINAL CODE.
POAG was remanded in custody and will make his first court appearance on Monday, July 12th, 2021 at 9:30 am. The Regina Police Service would like to thank public for their patience and cooperation during this incident.
