On Wednesday, July 22, 2021, at approximately 2:50 a.m., police observed what was believed to be a stolen vehicle driving erratically and travelling at a high rate of speed in North Regina. The vehicle lost control and collided with a fence on Inland Drive and the three occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. Officers searched the immediate area and located three male youths; they were all taken into police custody without incident.
The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen and in a search of the vehicle, police located a firearm and ammunition. As a result of the investigation, one of the males was released and the other two males are facing charges:
A sixteen year-old male youth, who cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Under $5000 [CC 355 (B)];
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing It’s Possession is Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- 2 X Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)];
- Fail To Comply With Condition of a Release Order [CC 145 (5)(A)].
A seventeen year-old male youth, who cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Under $5000 [CC 355 (B)];
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing It’s Possession is Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- 2 X Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)];
- Fail to Comply With Disposition [YCJA 137].
Both of the youths will make their first court appearances on the charges in Youth Provincial Court this afternoon (July 22, 2021) at 2:00 p.m.
