A 44 year-old Regina male is facing numerous weapons-related charges after an altercation at a home in the 900 block of Argyle Street last night. This investigation is ongoing.
At approximately 7:04 p.m., on Monday, August 16, 2021, police were dispatched to a house in the 900 block of Argyle Street, after receiving a report that two males at that address had been assaulted. The preliminary information indicated there may be a handgun involved, but it was later found to be a pellet gun. One of the male victims was taken by EMS to hospital for treatment of injuries. A police canine team was able to successfully track the suspect to a residence in the 1000 block of Queen Street. The suspect was found hiding in the house and the pellet gun was located in a crawlspace. Further investigation led to charges against the 44 year-old suspect.
Forty-four year-old Gabriel Quentin YAHYAHKEKOOT, of Regina is charged with:
– 2 X Possession of a firearm (pellet gun) or ammunition contrary to prohibition, s. 117.01(1) CC;
– 2 X Pointing a firearm, s. 87 CC;
– Assault with a weapon, s. 267(a) CC; and
– Assault causing bodily harm, s. 267(b) CC.
The accused made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
