This Saturday promises to be a busy day at Mosaic Stadium and Evraz Place, as the venue hosts two major events: the annual Queen City Exhibition (QCX), and the third season game for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, hosting the Ottawa Redblacks. Game time is 5:00 p.m. Our best advice, for attendees of either event, is to give yourself plenty of time in order to maximize your enjoyment and safety.
Traffic volumes are expected to be higher on Saturday, August 21, 2021, building in the late afternoon. That applies to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. A higher number of vehicles will put a strain on available parking at Evraz Place and the surrounding neighbourhoods. And all motorists will have to be extra-attentive to pedestrians. For the average fair-goer or football fan that will mean exercising a little more patience and common sense.
The Game Day Traffic plan will be similar to that created for all football home games. The following road closures will be in effect three hours prior to, and following, the game:
Beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021, there will be no vehicle traffic allowed on the 1500, 1600, and 1700 blocks of Elphinstone Street. Access will be limited to Regina Transit buses and local residents only (you may be asked to show that you are a local resident, e.g. home address on identification or correspondence). Please respect the “No Parking” zones. Fans and motorists will find road closures on:
- 1500 block of Elphinstone Street at Dewdney Avenue;
- Princess Street and 9th Avenue
- Argyle Street and 9th Avenue;
- McTavish Street and 9th Avenue;
- Elphinstone Street and 9th Avenue;
- Montague Street and 10th Avenue;
- Elphinstone Street and North Railway Street;
- Saskatchewan Drive and Elphinstone Street.
Regina Police Service members on special duty will be present at Mosaic Stadium. Because of the large crowds and the inability to keep a two-meter distance, RPS officers inside the stadium will be wearing surgical masks. Even though public health orders are lifted, please give consideration to pandemic safety.
Police are also reminding drivers to be patient. Give yourself enough time to find parking. You must park legally – no blocking of driveways or alleys in the neighbourhoods surrounding Mosiac Stadium and Evraz Place. Motorists are asked to be vigilant for pedestrians, and follow directions. If you dislike driving in heavy traffic or you’re planning on drinking alcohol, then consider taking the FREE stadium shuttle. Enjoy QCX and/or the Saskatchewan Roughriders/Ottawa Redblacks game by taking these extra steps to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
