A 29 year-old male is facing charges in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation over the weekend.
On Saturday evening, July 31, 2021, police were alerted to a vehicle, travelling at high speeds and passing other vehicles on the right through residential areas. Even before a call for service was entered, the speeding vehicle, which was a cab, almost struck a police vehicle. The speeding vehicle continued in a north-bound direction and was eventually abandoned by the driver near Cameron and 2nd Avenue North, after it struck a curb and deflated a tire. The male driver was apprehended by police shortly thereafter. The cab was allegedly stolen earlier, around 8:45 p.m. that evening, when a male customer in the cab managed to distract the driver sufficiently to get him out of the driver’s seat in the 1600 block of Rae Street. Once the driver was out of the car, the male got into the driver’s seat and sped away, eventually ending up with the flat tire near Cameron and 2nd Avenue North. Upon review of evidence, police laid several charges against the suspect male.
Twenty-nine year-old Brydon John WHITEBEAR, of Regina, is charged with:
- Theft of Motor vehicle, s. 333.1(1) CC;
- Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000, s. 355(a) CC;
- Operate Conveyance in a Manner Dangerous to Public, s. 320.13(1) CC;
- Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, s. 320.14(1)(a) CC; and
- Failure or Refusal to Comply
WHITEBEAR made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August, 3, 2021.
