A 30 year-old male has been charged following investigation into a suspicious package at a business in the 600 block of Albert Street yesterday. The Regina Police Service thanks the public for its cooperation and patience during this investigation.
On Monday, October 18, 2021, at approximately 3:09 p.m., police were dispatched to a business in the 600 block of Albert Street. The background information indicated a suspect male had initially been detained for shoplifting and a bag he was carrying contained items that appeared suspicious. The bag was moved to an access-controlled area and police were called. An assessment of the package resulted in deployment of the Explosives Disposal Unit. EDU members were able to deal with the package/materials without incident. The male suspect, who had left the scene, was identified, arrested and subsequently charged.
Thirty year-old Steven Sean HEPPER, of Regina, is charged with:
- Theft under $5000., s. 334(b) CC;
- 2 X Possession of explosive substance contrary to order, s. 117.01(1) CC; and
- Possession of incendiary material, s. 436.1 CC.
HEPPER will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. today (Tuesday, October 19, 2021).
