One male is facing charges in connection with a Robbery incident in Regina on Friday, October 8, 2021.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of 1100 block Angus Street for the report of one male trying to break into multiple vehicles. As Police were arriving on scene, they observed the suspect male assault a taxi driver who then stole the cab and drove away. The victim of the robbery did not sustain serious injuries.
Police attempted to initiate a vehicle stop with the stolen taxi but the suspect driver did not pull over, evading Police. Shortly after, the stolen taxi struck a fence and the suspect attempted to flee on foot. A foot pursuit by Police led to the eventual safe arrest of the suspect without further incident.
Nineteen year-old Desmond KEY, of Regina, is charged with:
- Robbery [CC 344(1)(B)] X2;
- Flight from Police Officer [CC 320.17];
- Operate Conveyance Dangerous to Public [CC 320.13(1)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Condition of a Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].
KEY made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on October 12, 2021 at 9:30 am.
