On October 22, 2021, at approximately 7:28 pm, members of the Regina Police Service attended to the area of the 1200 block of Argyle Street, Regina, Saskatchewan for a complaint of a disturbance involving several people in the alley and the sound of gunshots. As Police arrived, two suspect fled the scene. The victim was assaulted while having personal items stolen by the two suspects. During the altercation, one of the suspects discharged a firearm, however, the victim was not hit.
A short time later, Regina Police Service Members located 2 male youths nearby, who matched the description of the suspects. The stolen belongings were recovered. A firearm was also located.
The two youths arrested cannot be named in accordance with provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
A 17 year old youth has been charged with:
- Armed Robbery While Using a Firearm [344 (1)(A.1)],
- Discharge a Firearm in a Reckless Manner [244.2(1)(B)],
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition [86(1)],
- Use of a Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence [85(1)(A)],
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized [92(1)],
- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited, or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime [96(1)],
- Fail to Comply with Disposition [137 YCJA],
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [117.01(1)] X2.
A 16 year old youth has been charged with:
- Armed Robbery While Using a Firearm [344 (1)(A.1)],
- Discharge a Firearm in a Reckless Manner [244.2(1)(B)],
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition [86(1)],
- Use of a Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence [85(1)(A)],
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized [92(1)],
- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited, or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime [96(1)].
The two youths will make their first court appearances in Provincial Court on October 25, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.
