A 17 year-old male has been charged in connection with a Hit and Run collision earlier this week, which sent a male cyclist to hospital with serious injuries.
This collision occurred at approximately 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the intersection of Dewdney Avenue East and Fleury Street. Preliminary investigation indicated a red, Dodge Caravan had struck a male cyclist, who was heading westbound at the intersection of Dewdney East and Fleury Street. The driver of the van then fled the scene, continuing westbound on Dewdney. On Wednesday, October 20, 2021, police placed a 17 year-old male under arrest and charged him in connection with this collision.
The victim of the collision, a 35 year-old Regina male, remains in hospital.
The name of the male youth cannot be made public in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth is charged with Fail to Remain at the scene of a collision causing bodily harm, section 320.16(2) CC. The youth will make his first court appearance on this charge in Youth Court on December 6, 2021.
