On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at approximately 9:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Retallack Street for the report of a group of males, one of which was seen to be armed with a weapon.
As police arrived, they observed the group dissipate in multiple directions. One male threw a firearm, which was recovered by police. Police pursued on foot and arrested this male, who was charged for weapon possession. A 16 year-old male was also located by police and arrested for public intoxication, and was later released.
A 17 year-old male, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88]; and
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking [CC 145(4)(A)].
The male is scheduled to make his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
