A 31 year-old Regina man is facing charges in connection with investigation into a weapons offence over the weekend.
On Sunday, October 31, 2021, at about 4:05 a.m., police units were dispatched to an address in the 800 block of Winnipeg Street for a report of a weapons call, potentially involving a knife. Preliminary information indicated a male had gotten into a cab at that location. A brief verbal altercation between the male and the driver led to the driver asking the male to leave. The male allegedly moved as if to strike the driver; the driver believed the male had a weapon in his hands and called police. The suspect fled. Police investigation, including an area search, led to an adult male who was taken into custody. The male had a warrant out of Saskatoon and was also a suspect in an unrelated file. He was arrested. Further investigation led to the discovery of a large knife concealed on his person. The male was charged accordingly.
Thirty-one year-old Jason Dustin HOTOMANIE, of Regina, is charged with:
- Breach of Undertaking, s. 145(4)(a) CC;
- Carry a Concealed Weapon, s. 90 CC; and
- Breach of Release Order, s. 145(5)(a) CC.
HOTOMANIE made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m., Monday, November 1, 2021.
